Are You A Denise Huxtable?

You're probably wondering what being a Denise Huxtable means.  First off if you don't know who Denise Huxtable is, go look her up.  If I had to give Denise a definition, I'll probably say free spirited,  goes where the wind blows, trying to find herself, determined yet indecisive.  Denise always had a vision for herself and her life, but definitely had a hard time showing it to others, especially her parents.

I myself have been and may still at times be a Denise Huxtable.  After coming back home from my freshman year of college, I was all over the place. Career and major wise. Very much like Denise. Up to today I still sit back and question the decisions that  I am making for my life. I sometimes feel like just going to explore and leave my responsibilities for a while, but right now that is not an option.

It didn't take long for me to come to the realization that being a Denise Huxtable on television and being one in real life are two very different things.  The Denise Huxtable on tv never really portrayed having any big responsibilities besides doing well in school. I have real life bills, lol, so I don't have time to sit back and "think". Now while being a Denise Huxtable may not necessarily be a bad thing, it's not really a habit you want to pick up at a young age as it could potentially negatively affect you in the future.

After reading this, ask yourself am I a Denise Huxtable?  If the answer is and you are in your 20's like myself, it's time to get it together.  I am in no way saying not to enjoy your life, because at the end of the day you want to have great memories to look back at.  The reality though is that we live in a world where loans and bills are very real.  Time waits for no man, so while we are trying to find ourselves, let us not lose focus on what is happening today!
